State Vesak Festival of 2569 B.E.

- In accordance with the admonitions of the Most Ven. Mahanayaka Theros and the Samastha Lanka Shasanarakshaka Mandalaya, it has been identified that it is appropriate to conduct the State Vesak Festival of 2569 B.E. (2025) at the Nuwara Eliya International Buddhist Centre Temple centralizing Nuwara Eliya District, jointly with the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government and the Department of Buddhist Affairs. It has been decided to hold this year's State Vesak Festival under the theme "Bhajetha miththe kalyane - Bhajetha purisuththame" (Associate with noble friends with virtues). Accordingly, the joint proposal made by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government and the Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to hold the National Vesak Festival centralizing Nuwara Eliya International Buddhist Centre Temple, to declare the Vesak Week from 10th to 16th of May 2025 and to organize and implement various Buddhist programmes during the said period, was approved by the Cabinet.
