Obtaining approval for a Memorandum of Understanding by the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO)

- Sri Lanka has entered into a bilateral agreement with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office in the year 2002 to provide updated navigational and safety information for the mariners sailing across the Sri Lankan waters and the only one in force at the moment is the amendment made to such agreement in the year 2005. Further, in the year 2013 the NARA has granted the UKHO the authority to produce and distribute Electronic Navigation Charts in the form of an agreement. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to amend the agreement made to produce and distribute Standard Nautical Charts and Electronic Nautical Charts reviewing the said agreement enabling Sri Lanka to gain authority for the production and distribution of Standard Nautical Charts and Electronic Nautical Charts, was approved by the Cabinet.
