Declaration of Mihintale as a National Heritage

- It has been observed that the Government requires to make a higher contribution compared to the present state patronage being given in order to minimize the difficulties when conducting the Poson Festival as a National Festival with the special rituals and customs attached to it. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Hon. Prime Minister to take the necessary steps to declare Mihintale as a National Heritage, the Poson Week and Mihintale perahara as National ceremonies and to set apart provisions annually for the Mihintale Poson Festival through the Ministry of Buddhasasana & Wayamba Development, was approved by the Cabinet.
