Obtaining approval for the Ruhunu Economic Development Corporation Act

- It has been decided to establish the Ruhunu Economic Development Corporation to implement the development activities in the southern region expeditiously with special emphasis on the establishment of export oriented special economic zones in the said region. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Ports & Shipping and Southern Development to publish the Ruhunu Economic Development Corporation Act prepared by the Legal Draftsman in the Government (Extraordinary) Gazette and subsequently, to present same in the Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
