Amendment to the Regulation of Fertilizer Act, No.68 of 1988

- The Regulation of Fertilizer Act, No.68 has been adopted for formalizing the importation, manufacture, formulation and distribution of fertilizer and to make provisions for matters connected thereto and the need for the amendment of its provisions to suit the present day needs has been identified. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to draft legislation by the Legal Draftsman, based on the procedure relating to matters such as the analyzing of fertilizer, obtaining laboratory assistance for same, fertilizer standardization and certification, revision of fines and the fields in respect of which regulations may be enforced, was approved by the Cabinet.
