Construction of Pre-cast Disaster Resilient Houses in the high risk landslide prone areas of the Ratnapura and Kalutara Districts
- An account named, 'the Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management' has been opened for the donors to credit money for providing relief assistance to the people affected due to emergency disaster situations and as at 2019‑03‑31 a balance of Rs.294.72 million has been reported in the account. The approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to the proposal made by an active operational institution of China to construct 10,000 Pre‑cast Disaster Resilient Houses for the families who live in disaster prone areas and who should be resettled due to landslides and flood disasters island‑wide. Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Public Administration, Disaster Management and Rural Economic Affairs, to construct 230 houses out of the 400 houses due to be constructed in the Ratnapura and Kalutara districts as a pilot project by utilizing the funds in the said account, was approved by the Cabinet.
