The Public Officers' Dress
- A Circular has been issued on 2019‑05‑29 regarding the Public Officers' Dress by the Secretary to the Ministry in‑charge of the subject of Public Administration by virtue of the powers vested in him by the Establishments Code. However, considering the various representations made to the Minister in‑charge of the subject of Public Administration pertaining to the implementation of the said Circular, it has been proposed to revise the above Circular. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, the Minister of Public Administration, Disaster Management and Rural Economic Affairs to issue circular instructions inclusive of the provisions such as that when coming to their office premises during the duty hours, the male officers should wear Trouser and Shirt or the National Dress and the female officers to wear Saree, Osari or a suitable dignified attire to preserve the dignity of the Public Service and such dress should always keep the face of a lady officer open while it should be a dress which do not obstruct the provisions laid down for public security, was approved by the Cabinet.
