Development of 845.83 km length of Roads in the Eastern Province

- With the objective of developing the access routes between the Rural Areas and the Socio-Economic Centres, it is due to develop and maintain 408.62 km length of rural roads in the Ampara District with 05 project packages, 221.28 km length of roads in the Batticaloa District with 03 project packages and 215.93 km length of roads in the Trincomalee District under the Second Integrated Road Investment Programme. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Kabir Hashim, the Minister of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development, to award the contract package 01 and 02 to NEM Construction (Pvt.) Ltd., the contract for package No.03 to the joint venture of AMSK - CHEC, to award the contract for package No.04 to the Maga Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd., to award the contract for package No.05 to Nawloka Construction Company (Pvt.) Ltd., to award the contract for package No.01 and 02 in the Batticaloa District to the joint venture of Chongqing International Corporation (China) and Sun Constructions, to award the contract for package No.03 to the Nawaloka Construction Company (Pvt.) Ltd., to award the contract No.01 and 03 in the Trincomalee District to Edward & Christie and package No.02 to Maga Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd., in accordance with the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
