Further extending the 'Relief Package' granted for the upliftment of the Tourism Industry adversely affected by the recent terrorist attack
- The approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously, to grant a Relief Package for the upliftment of the Tourism Industry, taking into consideration the threats posed against its future, due to the recent terrorist attacks. Further, considering the representations also made by other sectors associated with the Tourism Industry and affected by the said attacks, action has been taken to extend the earlier relief provide for, to those sectors as well. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance, to provide a moratorium in respect of the working capital loan scheme introduced to institutions engaged in the tourism industry and persons up to 31st March 2020 and to extend the coverage of the Credit Guarantee Fund, to grant a two month moratorium for the passenger bus owners, to introduce the working capital loan scheme for the entertainment sectors and individuals engaged in the institutions associated with the tourism industry and other persons and to implement the loan scheme called the 'Sancharaka Poddo' introduced by the Regional Development Banks etc., to support them financially, was approved by the Cabinet.
