Construction of the Laggala - Ilukkumbura Road

- A part of the existing road from Laggala to Ilukkumbura is to be inundated during the construction of the Kaluganga reservoir under the Moragahakanda Kaluganga development projects. Therefore, instead of the said road an alternative road section has to be constructed at a higher level. Accordingly the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to award the contract for the development of a road section of 5.48 km on Laggala - Ilukkumbura road for the said purpose to Sri Ram Construction Company for a sum of Rs.457 million as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
