Improvement of 51.7 km of National Roads in the Galle District

- It has been planned for the rehabilitation and the improvement of 51.7 km of National Roads in the Galle District, under the Integrated Road Investment Programme implemented with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank, to develop the access roads to improve the connectivity of the rural areas with the major Socio Economic Centres of the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western, North Central provinces and the Kalutara District. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Kabir Hashim, the Minister of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development to award the contract for the improvement and the maintenance of the said roads to M/s K.D.A. Weerasinghe & Company (Pvt.) Ltd. in joint venture with the Yunnan Construction and Investment Holding Group Co. Ltd., China for a sum of Rs.6,108.2 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
