Construction of Power Plants of 1MW capacity for the Trincomalee and the Moneragala 02 Grid Substations under the 'Soorya Bala Sangramaya' Programme

- Seventeen suitable Grid Substations were identified for the construction of 90 small scale solar power plants to be connected to the National Power Grid under the 'Soorya Bala Sangramaya' Programme. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development, to award 03 projects out of the 07 solar power projects of 1MW capacity expected to be connected to the Trincomalee Grid Substation, to M/s Suncor Solar City (Pvt.) Ltd., and the balance 04 projects to M/s Capital City Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd. and 04 projects out of the 05 solar power projects of 1MW capacity to be connected to the Moneragala Grid Substation to M/S Gold Corporation Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. and the balance project to M/s Nihon Green Power Company (Pvt.) Ltd., as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee (CANC), was approved by the Cabinet.
