Ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the Sapugaskanda Power Station

- In order to ensure an uninterrupted operation of the Sapugaskanda Power Station with a capacity of 152MW, the engine types of No.05, 07, 08 and 10 used for generating electricity are required to be overhauled for every 6,000 hour period of operation and the engine types of No.06, 09, 11 and 12 for every 12,000 hour period of operation. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development to award the contract for the purchase of the spare parts required for the said overhaulings to M/s MAN Energy Solution SE, of Germany, the original manufacturer for a sum of Euro 1.1 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
