Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2019-05-28

Extending of the facilities at the University of Jaffna, the University of Ruhuna and the Open University of Sri Lanka

- The attention of the Government has been drawn for the development of the necessary buildings and the infrastructure facilities of the universities with a view to improving the the facilities required for the university students. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, to award the contract for the construction of the three storey Library Building for the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna to M/s Central Engineering Services (Pvt.) Ltd. for a sum of Rs.312.2 million, the ten storey Ward Complex for the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rununa to M/s Central Engineering Services (Pvt.) Ltd. for a sum of Rs.1,138.3 million and the five storey building for the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Open University of Sri Lanka to M/s K.S.J Construction (Pvt.) Ltd. for a sum of Rs.378.8 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
