Appointing an Experts' Committee to submit recommendations to address the issues pertaining to the Co-operative sector

- The Co-operative movement provides an exceptional contribution towards achieving common objectives by rendering an expanded and efficient service locally and internationally. Nevertheless, issues such as politicization, inefficient management and administrative issues have been observed in the Co-operative sector in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, the Minister of Industry & Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons, Co-operative Development and Vocational Training & Skills Development to appoint an Experts' Committee to submit recommendations on the entire Co-operative system, prevailing issues and the solutions for same and for the necessary amendments to the co-operative legal frame work to give effect to the above, was approved by the Cabinet.
