Implementation of Tourism Promotion Programmes

- Sri Lanka was reputed to be an emerging destination of the tourists and it has been planned by the Sri Lanka Tourists Promotion Bureau to implement an integrated promotional programme with the collaboration of the overseas tourist operators who brought foreign tourists to Sri Lanka with a view to further promoting Sri Lanka in the sector. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. John Amarathunga, the Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs, to implement the proposed programme with the collaboration of the overseas tourist operators who generate more than 250 tourists annually to the country with an investment of around Rs.150 million and to invite proposals for promotional programmes from the tourist operators of the Governments of the United Kingdom, India, Russia, Italy, Israel, Germany, China, Ukraine, Japan, France, Australia, Benelux, Korea, Gulf and Scandinavian countries, was approved by the Cabinet.
