Converting the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna as Vavuniya University

- Faculties of Business Studies and Applied Science of the University of Jaffna have been established in the Vavuniya Campus. Further, the Department of Finance & Accounting and the Department of Economics and Management Studies have been established in the Faculty of Business Studies while the Department of Physical Sciences and the Department of Biological Science have been established in the Faculty of Applied Sciences. As such, the proposal made by Hon.Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education to establish the Vavuniya Campus of the University of Jaffna as Vavuniya University with a view to enhancing the quality of the courses of the University and enabling to conduct those degree courses in English medium, was approved by the Cabinet.
