Financial Cooperation granted by Germany for strengthening the National Natural Disaster Insurance Scheme

- The National Insurance Trust Fund has initiated a Natural Disaster Insurance Scheme to cover all uninsured householders in Sri Lanka. The German Development Bank (KfW) and the Insurance Development Forum of Germany have agreed to provide technical assistance worth of Euro 2.5 million for enhancing the sustainability of this National Natural Disaster Insurance Scheme. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance to enter into relevant Agreements to receive the aforesaid financial cooperation, was approved by the Cabinet.
