Virusara Privilege Card - Implementation of the Second Phase

- A privilege card by the name of 'Virusara' has been issued enabling to obtain benefits for the War Heroes of Tri-Forces, the Police and the Department of Civil Security who became disabled and for the dependents of those who scarified their lives and had gone missing while in operational duties, for the sake of protecting the sovereignty and restoring peace in Sri Lanka. By using the said Privilege Card they can enjoy special benefits in purchasing consumer goods and also obtaining services of about 70 public and private institutions which provide services in the areas of Health, Education, Banking, Insurance and Leasing. The proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, to issue Virusara Cards for the the war heroes who have served in Tri-Forces, the Police and the Department of Civil Security during the war period from 1983 to 2009 and has retired now and war heroes who have served in that period and are still serving and also for the dependents of the civil officers who died while serving under the said institutions and for such civil officers who became disabled in addition to the present beneficiaries of the said privilege card, was approved by the Cabinet.
