Extending the loan facilities for the development of Cinemas under the 'Enterprise Sri Lanka' Programme

- It has been identified that the intervention of the Government is absolutely necessary for the re‑development of the film industry with a high quality and taste which at present, is subject to some dwindling draw back. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs to provide concessionary loans under the 'Enterprise Sri Lanka' programme, in order to feed new technology in to the cinemas presently in operation and to improve the necessary infrastructure facilities required to produce a high standard cinema industry, to re‑establish the closed cinema halls with qualitative vigour suited to the new cinema industry and to motivate the cinema owners to initiate new cinema halls, was approved by the Cabinet.
