Establishment of new Divisional Secretary Divisions

- In order to avoid the difficulties faced when providing public services to the General Public due to the existence of a high population density and a large area of extent to cover, the difficulties found in gaining access etc. and also on the basis of the recommendations of the Delimitation Committee 2012, the proposal made by Hon. Wajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government, to upgrade the Hikkaduwa Divisional Secretary Division as the Hikkaduwa, Ratgama and Madampagama Divisional Secretary Division, the Baddegama Divisional Secretary Division as the Baddegama and Wanduramba Divisional Secretary Division, the Balangoda Divisional Secretary Division as the Balangoda and Kaltota Divisional Secretary Division and also to establish new Divisional Secretary Divisions as Mathurata, Nildandahinna, Talawakale, Kotmale West, Kotmale East and Norwood in the Nuwara Eliya District and Omanthe in the Vavuniya District, was approved by the Cabinet.
