Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be entered into between the Ministry of Plantation Industries and the Foreign Affairs Office in the Hainan Province of China

- Discussions were made by the delegations of the Hainan Province of China with Sri Lanka on promoting co‑operation between Sri Lanka and China pertaining to investments to be made in the plantation sector and the activities of the plantation sector and during such discussions, the possible fields where co‑operation between Sri Lanka and Hainan Province of China could be promoted were identified. As such, a proposal has been made to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Lanka and the Hainan Province of China for promoting co‑operation in the field of plantation. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries, to enter into a Memorandum on 'Co‑operation' in the Development of Tropical Agriculture and Value Addition in Plantation Tree Crops, drafted for this purpose was approved by the Cabinet.
