Amendments to the Wages Boards Ordinance

- The approval of the Cabinet had been granted previously to amend section 59A of the Wages Boards Ordinance to prevent any harm or disadvantages that may cause to the permanent employees of a certain business enterprise by the employment of contract workers for manufacturing or service activities in the said institution and protect their rights. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, at the request of the Non‑Cabinet Minister of Labour and Trade Union Relations to publish the draft bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman in the Government Gazette and present the same thereafter in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
