Ensuring the Security of Air Passengers

- The attention of the Government has been focused towards taking prompt action to ensure the security of the air passengers using the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for traveling purposes, with a view to avoiding the recurrence of terrorist activities such as the terrorist attacks which took place recently. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga, Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation to purchase modern technological machines to screen the baggage and goods and install the same at BIA as one of such measures, was approved by the Cabinet.
