Provision of Computer facilities for schools

- According to a budget proposal it has been proposed to implement a project for the provision of computer facilities in schools with a view to developing the learning and teaching process in the school educational system. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, the Minister of Education, to secure the funds required for the purchase of 160,000 laptop computers in order to fulfill the requirement of computers in schools with secondary grades, was approved by the Cabinet.
