Multi sectoral Action Plan on the Prevention of Non Communicable Diseases 2016 2020

- It has been identified that 70% itself of the diseases which affect the people of Sri Lanka are non-communicable diseases such as Heart attacks, Diabetics, High Blood Pressure, Strokes and Cancers and the development of this trend has also been shown in the surveys conducted recently. In order to control this situation to the minimum, an Action Plan has been prepared with the participation of all the relevant stakeholders to be implemented during the period of 2016 - 2020. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine, to implement an awareness programme for the general public using the financial provision set apart for the purpose for the year 2019, was approved by the Cabinet.
