Provision of facilities for the implementation of the Heda Oya Multi Purpose Project

- It has been planned to implement the Heda Oya Multi-Purpose Project for providing drinking water to the Divisional Secretary Divisions of Siyambalanduwa, Madulla, Lahugala and Pothuvil and to control the floods in those areas. Accordingly, the joint proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education and Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to establish a Task Force comprising of the relevant stakeholders and the representatives of the relevant institutions to avoid the practical difficulties which could occur when the proposed multi‑sectoral project is implemented and to focus attention on the needs of the affected residents and also the establishment of a Sub‑Committee comprising of the relevant Ministers to overcome the issues that will crop up when implementing the said proposal, was approved by the Cabinet.
