Procurement of 100 MW additional power capacity for a period of 06 months to ensure the uninterrupted power supply in the Country

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to procure 100 MW of additional power capacity to ensure the uninterrupted power supply in the country. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development, to award the contracts for the procurement of 24 MW power capacity for the Pallekele Grid Sub-station and 10 MW power capacity for the Galle Grid Sub-station to Aggreko International Project Ltd of the United Kingdom at a sum of Rs.30.20 per each 1 MW, 10 MW power capacity for the Mahiyanganaya Grid Sub-station and 8 MW power capacity for the Polonnaruwa Grid Sub-station at a sum of Rs.30.58 and Rs.30.63 respectively, per each 1 MW to Altaaqa Alternative Solution Global FZE of the United Arab Emirates and 24 MW power capacity for the Hambantota Grid Sub-station and 24 MW power capacity for the Horana Grid Sub-station at a sum of Rs.28.43 and Rs.28.70 respectively, per each 1 MW to V Power Holdings Limited of Hong Kong for a period of 06 months, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
