Purchase of 400,000 single dose vials of Quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus Recombinant Vaccine for the prevention of Cervical Cancer
- Cervical cancer has been identified as the the second commonest cancer among women in Sri Lanka. Human Papilloma Virus vaccine has been introduced into the National Immunization Programme to prevent Cervical cancer in future. As such, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine, to award the contract for the procurement of 400,000 single dose vials of Quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus Recombinant Vaccine required for that purpose to UNICEF, at a sum of US$ 1.98 million, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
