Obtaining International Consultancy Services for the Mundeni Aru River Basin Development Project

- The Mundeni Aru River Basin Development Project which is to be carried out with an investment of around Rs.35,500 million, has been planned for implementation aimed at providing irrigation facilities for lands in extent of 13,200 hectares in the Districts of Ampara and Batticaloa in the Eastern Province, supplying drinking water, mitigation of flood risks etc. and the Cabinet has granted its approval previously for the implementation of same. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development, to call for proposals from both the local and foreign consultancy agencies to select a consultant with experience and expertise for the implementation of this project and to appoint a Cabinet Appointed Consultancy Procurement Committee for the evaluation of the proposals, was approved by the Cabinet.
