The development of the land required for the proposed project for providing houses to the low income earners to be constructed in Paliyagoda
- It has been planned to construct 40,000 housing units with an investment of Rs.190 billion under the Urban Regeneration Programme implemented with the objective of providing houses to the underserved community living in Colombo. As at now, 16 projects have been completed under Phase-I of the programme and 8,380 families have been settled in the new apartments. Under Phase II of the programme it has been planned to complete 7,400 housing units under 12 projects. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis & Western Development to get the construction of the Gabion Wall, cleaning of the stream and carrying out the development activities done by the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation Corporation which has shown competency in such work, at a cost of Rs.217.34 million in order to develop the land used for the construction of 600 houses in the Paliyagoda area in a more appropriate manner, was approved by the Cabinet.
