Restructuring of the Village Housing Committees

- The Cabinet of Ministers has granted its approval previously to establish District, Divisional and Village Housing Committees for the systematic implementation of “Samata Sewana” National Housing Programme Island wide. Accordingly, Village Housing Committees have been established in 11,192 Grama Niladhari Divisions by now. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs to establish the said Village Housing Committees at sub village level going beyond the Grama Niladhari Division Level and to establish the same in every sub village in the Island designating them as Community Settlement Committees with a view to achieving the expected goals of this project in a productive manner, was approved by the Cabinet.
