Providing Relief to the householders adversely affected by the water leaks of the Main Tunnel of the Uma Oya Multi Purpose Development Project

- The Cabinet has granted approval previously to extend the monthly rent being paid to these residents affected due to the Uma Oya Multi Purpose Development Project, until such time that alternative lands are provided to them. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, to extend the period of payment of rentals to them for a further period of 03 months, until the preparation of the land identified in Bandarawela area for the resettlement of the displaced persons due to the said project, was approved by the Cabinet.
