Formalization and Expedition of the Receipt of Court Fines and Stamp Duties Levied on Transfer of Lands to the Local Authorities

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to amend section 19 of the Provincial Councils Act, No.42 of 1987, with a view to making the existing system of crediting the revenue accumulated on the Court fines more efficient and stamp duties charged on the deeds certified on transfer of lands within the administrative areas of Local Authorities to the relevant Local Authorities. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Wajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government, to publish the Bill prepared accordingly in the Government Gazette and to refer it to the Provincial Councils through H.E the President for their views in terms of Article 154G of the Constitution and present the same in Parliament subsequently with amendments if found necessary, was approved b the Cabinet.
