Issuance of General Policy Guidelines in respect of the Electricity Industry

- In terms of the provisions of section 5 of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act. No.20 of 2009, the Minister has to issue General Policy Guidelines in respect of the Electricity Industry. Accordingly, with a view to addressing the emerging issues in the power sector, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Power, Energy and Business Development to issue the new General Policy Guidelines formulated incorporating Fuel diversity and security, Electricity Tariff, Generation, Transmission and Distribution Systems, Financing on Electricity Projects, Environment, Energy Conservation, Consumer Services, Multi-Sector Development, Safety and Exemptions from Licensing, was approved by the Cabinet.
