Gazette Notifications issued to impose a Special Commodity Levy for providing relief to the Consumers and the Local Farmers

- In terms of the provisions of section 7(iii) of the Special Commodity Levy Act No.48 of 2007, approval of Parliment has to be obtained as soon as convenience for the Gazette Notifications published under the said Act by passing a resolution in Parliament. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance, to present the Gazette Notifications No.2104/30 dated 2019‑01‑03, No.2108/65 dated 2019‑02‑01, No.2109/15 dated 2019‑02‑07, No.2109/20 dated 2019‑02‑08, No.2111/58 dated 2019‑02‑24 and No.2112/48 dated 2019‑03‑02, published to impose the Special Commodity Levy to provide relief to the consumers and the local Farmers, in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
