Securing of Funds for the establishment of a National Vocational Training Institute at Hingurakgoda

- The Government has focused its attention on the need for providing a qualitative vocational education and training to the youth aimed at productive employment opportunities for the social and economic development of Sri Lanka. As such, it has been planned to establish a National Vocational Training Centre at Hingurakgoda under the Polonnaruwa Integrated Development Programme with a concessionary financial assistance of Euro 35 million from Netherlands. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance, to enter into loan Agreements with the Cooperative Rabobank U.A. of the Netherlands for the implementation of the project under a concessionary loan inclusive of a Euro 9.7 million grant, was approved by the Cabinet.
