Incorporating the Convention on Cluster Munitions (OSLO Convention) into the Domestic Legislation in Sri Lanka

- Sri Lanka will be able to gain reputation as a state which stands for the humanitarian disarmament by acceding to the Convention on the Eradication of Cluster Munitions, embodied in the multiple explosive sub-munitions which cause major destruction. Taking into consideration the contribution to be made for the peace and security of the region as well as in the world, the attention of the Government has been focused to incorporate the Convention on Cluster Munitions or the OSLO Convention into the domestic Legislation in Sri Lanka. As such, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, to draft the necessary legislation for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
