Introduction of protected foot bridges for the convenience of transportation of the people living in the remote areas

- It has been planned to construct 1000 protected foot bridges developed by the National Engineering Research and Development Centre, at the identified locations in the remote areas at the Divisional Secretariat Division level where unprotected trunk bridges, suspension bridges or any such locations where safety measures are not used for transportation. As such, the proposal made by H.E. the President, at the request of the Hon. Non‑Cabinet Minister of Science, Technology & Research to implement the said programme, securing the funds necessary within the 2020 - 2022 Medium Term Budgetary Framework, was approved by the Cabinet.
