Awarding of the consultancy contract of the project for the improvement of Potable Water Supply Schemes for the Rural Community

- The Rural Infrastructure Development Project in the Emerging Regions is implemented aimed at the development of the Northern, Eastern, North Central and the Uva Provinces. Under this programme, it is expected to raise the living standards of the people and to develop their livelihood through the improvement of the basic infrastructure facilities such as rural roads, medium and small scale irrigation canals and the supply of portable water. It is also aimed at implementing programmes contributing to the development of the rural economy, reduction of the regional disparities, and alleviation of poverty. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Wajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government, to award the consultancy services of the project for the improvement of portable water supply schemes for the rural community to M/s Ceywater Consultants (Pvt.) Ltd. in accordance with the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Consultants Procurement Committee (CACPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
