Amendment to the National Institute of Education Act, No.28 of 1985, in order to restructure the Administrative and Management structure of the National Institute of Education

- The National Institute of Education has been established to advise the Minister in-charge of the subject for the qualitative development in the field of education, curriculum development, the professional development of professionals in the field of education and offering them with the relevant post graduate degrees and conducting of research and studies in the field of education etc. A Council has been established for the administration of this institute and it has been observed that a necessity has arisen to restructure the administrative activities of the institute considering the timely and the future needs. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Minister of Education to make amendments to the National Institute of Education Act, No.28 of 1985, enablling to appoint the Chairman of the Academic Affairs Board of the National Institute of Education as an ex-officio member of the Administrative 'Council' of the Institution, was approved by the Cabinet.
