Establishment of a Petroleum Refinery in Hambantota for exports

- A proposal has been submitted to set up a Petroleum Refinery with the capacity of 10 million metric tons per annum in Hambantota for exports as a Joint Venture between Silver Park International (Pvt) Ltd., Singapore and the Ministry of Oil & Gas of Sultanate of Oman. Accordingly, taking into consideration the significance of the relevant investment proposal, the proposal made by Hon. Malik Samarawickrama, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade to allocate 400 acres of land to the investor on lease basis for the establishment of the proposed industry, was approved by the Cabinet.
