Preservation and Promotion of 'Angam Shilpa'
- The contribution had from the Angampora Shilpa, an indigenous Martial Art Technique and such performers were of immense importance to achieve success at the foreign invasions directed against the Sri Lankan nation. The attention of the Government has been drawn to preserve the Angampora Martial Art Techniques for the future generations as a unique art technique which could place the history of Sri Lanka in the face of the World. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs, for the issuance of a new Gazette Notification by annulling the Gazette Notification of 1817 published by the British Colonial Government on banning the practice of the Angampora Martial Arts and to declare the said Martial Art and the Art Techniques Associated with it as a National Heritage, was approved by the Cabinet.
