Implementation of the drought risk reduction activities

- The District Secretary of Jaffna has submitted an estimate for the programme to be implemented at the Divisional Secretariat Division level on the short term and long term measures for the provision of water required for the household and agricultural purposes in a bid to solve the water problem which has cropped up in the area. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, the Minister of Public Administration & Disaster Management, to construct water storage tanks in Allaipeddy and Nunavil West, to rehabilitate the saline water prevention scheme of the Vertharadaipu Kulam, Sampalodai, Punkuduthevu East and Madathuveli and to renovate the Melinchimunai Kulam tank at a cost of Rs.54.2 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
