Strengthening of the Medical Supplies Facilities

- The Cabinet has granted approval previously to upgrade the facilities of the Drug Stores of the 134 hospitals of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine and the 26 Regional Medical Supplies Divisions coming under the purview of the Medical Supplies Division. However, considering the rapid advancement and the development activities of the Health Institutions, the facilities available in the Medical Supplies Divisions spread over the Island should be expanded. Accordingly, the matters presented by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine, on upgrading the stores facilities of 430 Divisional Hospitals and 276 Primary Health‑Care Units, in addition to the 160 institutions for which approval has been granted earlier, at a cost of Rs.3,988.6 million within the Medium Term Budgetary Framework of 2020-2022, was noted by the Cabinet.
