Construction of a five-storey Cardiac Care Complex at the Teaching Hospital in Ratnapura
- The Cabinet of Ministers has previously granted approval to upgrade the Provincial General Hospital in Ratnapura as a Teaching Hospital with a view to providing the necessary facilities to facilitate clinical training for the medical students of the newly established medical faculty of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. As there is no adequate accommodation presently for Cardiology services at the hospital, it has been proposed to construct a five storey building in a land of 5,000 sq.m. By this it is intended to provide facilities for Cardiology Wards with 80 beds, Cardiology Thoracic Ward with 40 beds, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Excise ECG Room, ECG Unit with Halter Monitoring facilities, 02 Eco Cardiography rooms, Intensive care Units with 10 beds, Theater rooms, Clinic rooms and the required medical equipment and services. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine to construct the Five storey Cardiac Care Complex at the Teaching Hospital in Ratnapura at a cost of Rs.1,325.9 million within the Medium Term Budgetary Framework of 2020 - 2022, was approved by the Cabinet.
