Amendments to the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted previously to amend sections 3(2) and 15 of the Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act No.66 of 1981 in order to update certain administrative issues which emerge in implementing the said Act by changing its name into Lalith Athulathmudali Mahapola Higher Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act. In addition, the proposal made by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education, on the draft bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman amending sections 3(2), 15 and 19 of the said Act by incorporating the amendments such as vesting powers of the said Act, entrusted to the Ministry in charge of Trade to be vested with the Ministry in charge of Higher Education, was approved by the Cabinet.
