Securing of funds for the 'Smallholder Agribusiness Partnership Program

- The 'Smallholder Agribusiness Partnership Program' of the period from 2017 - 2023 is a programme being implemented under an investment of US$ 105 million, to assist around 57,500 low income recipient families for the sustainable development of their income and their livelihood. The International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) has agreed to provide a loan facility of US$ 54.4 for the implementation of this project and out of this US$ 39.88 million has already been used. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance to secure a further US$ 14.52 million required for the continued implementation of this project, was approved by the Cabinet.
