Implementation of the National Integrity Programme
- In terms of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) which was ratified by the Government of Sri Lanka it is obligatory to create an adequate legal background and administrative parameters within the country to act against corruption. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has granted its approval previously to formulate a National Action Plan to take measures against corruption. As such, the proposal made by H.E. the President Maithripala Sirisena, to implement the National Integrity Plan and Actions in colloboration with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption with a view to fulfilling the objectives of creating a public service characterized by honesty, transparency, responsibility and accountability, raising awareness among the public sector employees on bribery and prevention methods, encouraging the society and the public officers to provide evidence and information, mobilizing citizens as whistle blowers on corruption and defending and appearing on behalf of witnesses, informants and whistle blowers, was approved by the Cabinet.
