Allocation of plots of land from Regional Industrial Estates to set up industries
- The Regional Industrial Estate Development Programme is carried out at regional level with the objective of promoting industries at regional level. Under this programme, identifying the suitable investors for investment in the industrial estate established at regional level is done in accordance with the recommendations of the Regional Industrial Services Committees. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, the Minister of Industry & Commerce, Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons and Co‑operative Development to allocate plots of lands from the industrial estates of Homagama, Kalutara, Millewa, Kuruwita Nalanda Ellawala, Embilipitiya, Galigamuwa, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Ampara Nawagampura, Polonnaruwa Laksha Uyana, Karandeniya, Udukawa, Ulapane and Puttalam for 25 investors so selected on a 35 year lease basis and to change the business names of investors carrying on their industries presently in the industrial estates, add new industries and to change the existing production of the industry in accordance with the recommendations of the Regional Industrial Service Committees, adding new industries and to make changes in the industries, was approved by the Cabinet.
